  • About our Watercolour Artist

When not running around outdoors under the sun, Tif (@tifaaani) spends time creating illustrations and stories from her collected inspirations. She mostly works with watercolor as a traditional medium, but also dabbles in digital art on the iPad. Her dreamy childlike illustrative style was born out of the belief that the artist is the child that never grew up, and that being able to create is wildly liberating.

Check out Tif's Instagram for more of her works!

  • FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

    • What if we can’t draw? Will the instructors help us?
If you have no prior experience, don’t worry! Instructors are there to provide guidance. They will not help you draw, but rather give you the tips and tricks to help you achieve what you want.

    • Can we bring our own images?
We have folders with tons of reference images for you to pick from but you’re welcome to bring your own images! However, not all images may be suitable. Do show our instructors your image and they will be able to advise if it’s achievable for the session.

    • What happens if we’re late?
Oh dear, it means you’ll have lesser time to paint. ☹

    • Can we bring our child/children along?
Sorry, for the consideration of other art jammers we do not allow children during the art jamming session. This is meant for adults only. We seek your understanding on this! Perhaps you can check our children’s site for our dedicated children's programmes.

    • My friend wants to come and hang out while I paint. Can they come but not paint?
Sorry, only people who have reserved a slot to paint in our Watercolour Jamming sessions are allowed. If your friend would like to join you, persuade him/her to paint with you!

    • Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes, of course! But no strong-smelling food like durian or chicken rice please. Do help us to clean up after yourselves too.

    • What if we’re able to finish our work? Can we leave it at your studio and continue another time?
Oh no, we’ve run out of storage space! We highly advise that you complete within the stipulated time. If you keep your artwork in our studio, it may be difficult for you to continue when you return. Do note that any work that is unclaimed after 6 months will be repurposed.

    • What if we are unable to finish our painting in one sitting and come back another time to finish it up, must I pay for two sessions?
We want each art jammer to take their time to create a piece they truly love and can take home, so you’re more than welcome to finish in another sitting (as long as we have storage space). If you’re staying for a second session or returning to complete your artwork, the giving guide of S$35/pax for the subsequent session(s) still applies. The money that we receive from our Watercolour Art Jam sessions helps us to pay our rent + utilities, purchase materials and engage our instructors to keep our Watercolour Art Jam running ☺

    • Do you have bathrooms in the studio?
      Yes we do!

    • Can we bring home our painting?
Why, of course!! Your hard work and effort is evident in the masterpiece you create and we want you to proudly bring back your creation.
    • Is watercolour water and dust proof
Remember to keep it away from water! It is also a good idea to keep it out of direct sunlight so the pigments stay vibrant.

Watercolour is not dust proof. Dust can and will gather on your painting if you leave it out in the open. We recommend framing your beloved painting up to protect it from dust and accidents. (Also, why not hang up your masterpiece and show it to the world?)

    • How do I remove dust on my watercolour
      1. Make sure watercolour painting is completely dry

2. Use a soft brush (it can be a paintbrush as well) and make sure it is COMPLETELY DRY

      3. Gently dust off anything on the surface of your watercolour painting with the dry brush. Make sure that there are no wet spots/droplets of water on the paper or brush, otherwise your painting will smudge!

    • What if I screw up my artwork? Can I redo?

A big part of learning and experimenting is messing up! For acrylic painting, you can cover up your mistake with more paint. For watercolour, we provide each participant with a few pieces of watercolour paper, limited up to 5 pieces of A4.

    •  Can I bring home extra paper?

You can choose to bring extra paper home, or leave it in the studio for others.

    • Do you sell art materials?

No, we don’t, but we’re happy to advise what materials are good and where to get these!

    • Is watercolour toxic?
Watercolour paints contain pigments and chemicals as all store-bought paints do. These usually contain low toxicity levels, but it’s all good as long as you don’t attempt o lick, taste or ingest the paint!

    • Can I don’t do watercolour, but bring my own craft materials and rent space to work?
As much as we would like to have a space for all creatives and artists to hang out, studio space is limited! We will not able to offer this when art jamming sessions are happening, so as to provide our art jam participants with the best experience and space.

    •  Is your workshop suitable for a person with special needs?
We welcome everyone, but we understand that people with special needs require certain levels of assistance. Please reach out to us in advance so we understand what is required. We will try our best to arrange something, or find workarounds. We believe that everybody should be able to do art, and want to help make this happen!
